The magic of the "Ni-Night"

I know, I know I have been HORRIBLE at blogging lately. We've been very busy and I've had my mind on other things (to be revealed at a later date) that blogging has been the last on my list. After a few hate texts from my sister insisting that I update the blog, I figured it was time.
We've been having a fantastic summer - pool parties, BBQ's, birthday parties, beach days. Unfortunately Chase had a few weeks in there where he got another ear infection and was out of commission for a few days...of course when Daddy was traveling on a trip. Although I felt terrible that Chase was feeling down and out, I did have a life changing epiphany!
There have been a few known facts and rules since Chase was born: 1) He is NOT a cuddler and 2) he would only get his blanket ("ni-night") when he was in his crib. I didn't want to be that mom of the child who always drug his blanket around and would throw a fit if he was without it. Unfortunately I am disappointed that I didn't stick to my guns on that rule but fortunately with the change, Chase became a cuddler!!!! Yay! I discovered that when he was hurting, he just wanted to snuggle up with his "ni-night." It's incredible that the second he gets it in his hands, he immediately starts sucking his thumb which is another thing he never did and lays his head on your shoulder. Awesome, I just actually started 2 new bad habits....bad mommy.
So now, thanks to an ear infection, the "ni-night" goes everywhere with us. Only in the car though which is nice because now I don't have to drive around with my front seat filled with toys that I keep handing him as he throws one onto the seat out of reach. I still refuse to let him have it in public...actually that's a lie. I just gave it to him at the restaurant to distract him from trying to climb out of the high chair. Sweetly, the thumb went immediately in the mouth, the jibberish at the top of his lungs stopped, he laid his head on the table and was a little angel while we finished our meal. It's amazing how much security there is within a blanket for a young child. Praise God for whoever invented the satin trimmed waffle "ni-nights!" You are my savior!!!
